One Off Session: The Regulation of the Aesthetics Industry.

Building on the work of the former APPG for Beauty, Aesthetics, and Wellbeing, on the 15th September 2025, the reinstated APPG for Beauty and Wellbeing hosted a dedicated session exploring the regulation of the aesthetics industry and established key recommendations in light of recent advancements in Government legislation.

This session examined the costs to the NHS of UV exposure and resulting UV-related illness. The group explored options for reducing NHS cost through the treatment and prevention of skin cancers.

The inquiry’s second evidence session heard statements from people with lived experience of people affected by skin cancers and the cultural and societal challenges around the perception of UV safety in the UK.

The first evidence session of the inquiry heard evidence from a panel of experts on UV safety in the UK, what UVA/UVB is, how UV protection works, the basics of labelling, and how skin cancers develop.

The inaugural meeting of the Beauty & Wellbeing APPG set out its aims, elected officers, and outlined plans for the upcoming launch event and future inquiries into sun safety and the sector's social and economic impact.
